I finally decided to delete Gates of Andaron from my PC. I gave it a good, long chance and finally decided that it wasn't for me. So, why did I delete it? There are two main reasons:
Firstly, the community stinks. At the beginning, GoA had no GMs on duty at all and the world chat was nothing more than a series of cursing, hate (not flaming....hate. Regarding blacks, Jews, Hitler, neo-Nazis....you get the picture) and just outright nastiness. Once GMs were placed on duty a lot of that stopped but the place still never had a friendly feel. The hate was gone, but the nastiness was still there, only minus the cursing. Of course, it's always possible that it's not that bad, now, but my past experience from before GMs were assigned has soured me.
Secondly, there was far too much repetition and grinding involved in leveling up. It wasn't unusual at all to run out of original quests and have to fall back on repeatables that sent you back to kill the same four mobs ad infinitum.
Other than those two things, I liked Gates of Andaron. I liked the graphics, the interface, the world. I just couldn't stand the community. That combined with the grinding made me finally give up.

But, yeah. Before the GMs were assigned it was awful. I usually ended up keeping my chat tab set to "party" since I soloed. So, that channel was always nice and quiet.
