Hello, My Name is Arislyn and I am a Botter

Important Preface: I am very much against using third-party bots to cheat. This post is only about games that have botting built into their mechanics as part of their game system.

I am one of those people who always said, "Why bot? Why play a game if you aren't actually going to play the game?" I'll admit to having scoffed at people who used any sort of bot that was built into the game system. It seemed like the epitome of laziness to me. That is, it did until I tried Jade Dynasty and used their Esper system. Now, I'm in love with it.

You see, Jade Dynasty uses in-game items called "espers" that you get through an early quest line. An esper not only gives you some buffs and more skills, it's also a botting mechanism. You can set its options such as attack radius, whether to attack all mobs or just quest mobs, what skills to use and the priority given to those skills, etc. Then, you hit a button and...off you go! You can just lean back in your chair and watch your little guy kill, kill, kill!

Why the change of heart? It's because I realized that I can get my gaming fix while still being productive in the real world. I can run around for half an hour getting quests and setting myself up but then I can leave the game to go play with my kid, or step away to do a few chores, or go make myself a sandwich....whatever. I'm not tied to my computer the entire time that I am playing.

Sure, Jade Dynasty is never going to be a game that I can brag about. I'm never going to sidle up and proudly claim that I reached level fiddly-bajillion on my uber-sweet smackdown machine because there's nothing to really be proud of. I botted my way there! To me, Jade Dynasty is sort of like a 3D version of Domain of Heroes. It's a working man's MMO meant to be played very casually if that is what you want. (Keep in mind, you don't have to use the esper's botting ability. You can play this like any other MMO and avoid it.)

So, yeah. I'm enjoying it. I'm ashamed to admit it but...there ya go. I am.
