So, being the big sweetie he is, my husband ordered a copy of Little Big Planet for me after I fell in love with the game after renting it from Blockbuster. He found a good deal across the pond and ordered it. He made sure to ask that it is exactly the same game as we would get in the US and he was assured that, yes indeed, it is the same game.

Wrong!

Fnook was kind enough to alert me that the games are regional. Sure, I can play the UK version of LBP just fine. The problem is that I won't be able to get any of the downloadable content since that is regional. It detects that I have a UK copy and will only let me buy from the UK store...which, as far as I know, I can't access from the US.

So, yesterday, my husband emailed the seller and told him that we would be returning the game as soon as we receive it. If the seller gives us guff, we'll just turn around and resell it on eBay for what we paid for it and then put that money towards buying a US copy for me.

I feel kinda bad about this, but I wanted you to know about the region encoded DLC. LBP has soo much AWESOME downloadable content that it would be a HUGE shame if you couldn't take advantage of it. Fnook = sad panda.. :(
Oh, no! I'm glad you told me. It saves me from having wasted my money on a copy that I wouldn't be able to fully utilize. No biggie! It just means that I have to wait a little longer before I can play. :)
And I can't wait for you to get it! Running around in LBP is GOBS of fun! GOBS I tell you!
*^_^*
The DLC is totally worth making sure you get a proper region copy. Oddly, I'm starting to see copies of LBP showwing up on EB, and Gamestop shelves around town. Why would anyone want to trade in this game??
So, what exactly is in the DLC? Is it different/separate from the user created content?

Also, how do you communicate online? (Chip and I played together but haven't played online with other people, yet.) Do we need a keyboard or is there a voice chat option? I figure playing with people and not talking could get silly/crazy.
Yes, the DLC is seperate from the user created stuff. The official DLC are:
-Each week a FREE (usually holiday-themed) downloadable costume (sometimes more than one aswell)
-Premium costumes (which cost money, but are far more elaborate than the free ones.)
-theme packs: Which are usually stickers, decorations, costumes AND bundled level s made by the developers packs. (they recently released a Metal Gear Solid theme pack that was a whole goodiebag of stuff)

Chatting is done by either Mic headset (either USB or any bluetooth headset), or by any USB keyboard. Cheapest method is to just pop any old USB keyboard into the front of the PS3 and start typing. The mic is pretty cool though, because when you start talking, your sackperson lipsyncs to your voice, which is pretty neat! ^_^
Schweeet. I had a headset, so I'll probably use the mic. It's a lot easier than typing...and I'm lazy. :P

That sounds awesome. Okay, definitely sending back the UK version, then. Levels made by developers = awesomesauce. :D
Have a headset, even...

Stupid typo gremlins. :(
