We picked up Sacred 2 for a steal, this weekend. We had credit at one of our local game shops, so I was able to get this for free. Huzzah! My husband and I were really looking forward to playing together, expecting it to be a lot like the Baldur's Gate or Champions of Norrath games for the PS2. And, in reality, it is very much like that....only the multiplayer is a huge letdown.
It turns out that if you are playing on the same console, it does not allow for trading between players. (The only way you can trade items with someone else is if it is an online game between people on different consoles.) This frustrated my husband to no end since it makes him feel like he's competing with me for items. Personally, I don't care. I just want to play with him. But, it matters very much to him that the game is fair. As it stands, he gets the lion's share of the loot through no fault of his own. He's playing a melee class, so when the loot drops, it drops right on his head. (I'm playing a magic-user, so I'm standing back and helping him.)
In other games like Baldur's Gate or Diablo II, this isn't an issue since we can trade items even if it's a crude method like dropping it on the ground so the other person can pick it up. (We don't need a fancy interface to make us happy.) However, you can't even do that in Sacred 2. At least, I haven't found a way to drop items, yet. All I've found is scrapping the items for money.
The final straw for my husband was us trying to go into a cavern together. When he went in, the game didn't just drag me in, too. So, we had to work at timing going in at the same time. Sometimes, we could get it, other times one or the other of us would show up in the cavern without the other and would have to go back out and try again.
So, yeah. I'm enjoying it as a single-player game but as a multiplayer game, it stinks.
Genre/Style:
Role-playing/Third-Person 3D Action RPG
Release Date:
12/MAY/09
So far, I've only run into one bug. Sometimes, I'll get stuck and can't move. However, using one of my combat arts will clear that up, so it's not a huge deal. It's mildly annoying but no more than that.
BTW: I really enjoyed the Champions of Norrath/Call to Arms games too.. That's an itch I haven't scratched in a long time.
On PC everything is working fine atm., still some bugs but the same amount like in other games these days.
On PC there is an baility to trade but I often prefer dropping...
